Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Deliveries are late, but building site is now underwater
I am building a new headquarters and contracted a steel company to deliever the beams. They were late with the first two deliveries, but the contract calls for specific damages. A nearby dam burst and now my site is underwater. I cannot build on it for 2 months, by which time the steel supplier is not sure of his supplies.
If I contract with a new steel supplier, can the old steel supplier sue me for breach? What about if I just decided to screw it and leave the site unfinished for some time in the future?

No one can definitively answer your questions, without carefully reading the contract between your company and the steel company.
