Fired over the Phone

Recently I started a new job, I was told to quit my other jobs before I started, because they needed me full time. I was also told to buy my uniform and everything. Once I started my job everything seemed fine. My first week I only worked mon-wed. and on that sunday I recieved message on my phone tell me they no longer needed me..and thanks for trying and good luck finding a another position.. THe person never stated why i was fired.Is that Legal?

It's certainly unhappy, but it may very well be legal. It sounds like you had what's called an employment-at-will agreement, under the worst of which you can be fired because the boss got up on the wrong side of the bed that day. No reason for firing need be given.

However, it also sounds like you relied to your detriment on their statement that they needed you full time; that may give you a cause of action in contract.

Your attorney (who is not me; you need someone who concentrates in employment law, which I do not) would need to see any contract you signed with the new company to fully and intelligently answer your question.
