Gift certificates to business that closed

I have $230 in gift certificates to a business that went out of business. I had no idea the store was going out of business and showed up one day to an empty store. Is there any legal action I can take?

You may have a contract claim, but I doubt pursuing it would be worth it. You'd very likely pay more in attorney fees in pursuing the matter than you lost to the defunct business not making good on its gift certificates.

Sometimes the answer is Yes, but it would not make good fiscal sense; this is probably one of those times.
