Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Considering trying my hand at online service brokering. For example: I locate somebody on Craiglist (for instance) looking for somebody to help them put finishing touches on a website they've created. I, in turn, locate somebody else on SEOclerks.com (for instance) who offers that desired service for a fee. I then approach the person on Craiglist with an offer to complete their work (for the cost the person on SEOclerks quoted plus a small finders fee for myself). Craiglist person pays me via Paypal (for their protection) and I, in turn pay SEOclerks person for said service. Website is then completed but Craigslist person isn't happy with the service. Aside from filing an appeal with Paypal for a refund for the service provided, are they additionally able to file a lawsuit against me and if so, what kind of insurance would i need to protect myself against this.

I would seriously reconsider my business model. Offering services from people you know and have worked for or have worked for you in the past, is one thing; provision of competent services from people you do not know, is another. You will be opening yourself to a can of worms which may damage your reputation well in to the future. I do not believe it is worth the risk and am not aware of any insurance coverage that may save your skin for the long haul.
