Legal Question in Business Law in New York
I've heard that corporations have foreign registration requirements for doing business in other states. How does this work for a company doing e-commerce; i.e. one doing business where transactions and customers could be from any state, online?

You would have to review the law in each particular state. However, if the company's presence in the state is passive (only a "web page"), as compared to an active presence in the state (offices, employees, back account, etc.), the company should not have to file as a foreign corporation.
