Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Hello,
I am currently starting a business where I travel locally to homes and businesses to offer computer repair and consulting services. Any material goods required to perform repairs are simply purchased from a retail store and the exact amount is charged to the client. I do not have a store front.
I have already filed for a DBA, but I am unsure where to go from here. Do I need to charge sales tax? Are there any other obvious laws I am overlooking? What should my next steps be? I currently earn roughly $75/week, but that is simply because I'm afraid to let the business grow in fear I am doing something wrong.
Thanks for your advice!

As a Franchise Attorney I can advise you as follows. The LawGuru site is here to provide general guidance in understanding the law, not to take the place of your own lawyer. Besides the sales tax issue (which you can ask your local sales tax board) technical licenses may be required. Not having a store front is usually irrelevant to these kind of licensing requirements. You really need to consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
