Legal Question in Business Law in New York
If i hired someone with a writen contract to do a sidding job on our house. Gave them a check for $2000.000 for materials (which was cashed the next day) The remaining amount due was to be paid when the job was done. It has been 6 Weeks now, They dont return calls, no matterials have been delivered and I have since found out that no materials were ordered from the Company the said they ordered from. We have also found out from this company that this individual has outstanding unpaid bad check with them that was reported to NYS Troopers. What legal rights do we have and is this Grand theft?
