Legal Question in Business Law in New York
My job was just acquired by a much larger company. Much of our salary comes from performance based bonuses paid every 6 months. The structure of these bonuses is written in our original contracts. The new company took over the payroll very close to the end of our bonus cycle. Our previous employee handbook said we need to work until the end of this cycle to receive these bonuses. The new company has refused payment of these bonuses. It is now months past the payment date. Does the technicalities of takeover date relieve the new owner obligations of these payments?

I would think not since employment was based, in part, by the employee handbook. You may contact the NY Labor Department. The government may place pressure on the new employer to honor the agreement.
