Legal Question in Business Law in New York
too little too late
I put together a book for a company about a year ago. they just
sent me a check, the check was less than the agreed upon price.
(price $1,000 the check was for $300) I will send the check back!
Question: Can I sue for legal fees, court cost, time off work, interest
on the debt
money I had to borrow to pay a debt, and some sort of mental
stress.
Thank You.

Re: too little too late
You probaly could recover interest and possibly court costs. Recovery of lost time and attorneys' fees is doubtful and there is no chance to collect for mental anguish. You should speak to a lawyer about cashing the check under protest and still suing for the balance.
