Legal Question in Business Law in New York
If I make a payment to a business can they refuse to accept it? I owe for a funeral and they ask for the amount in one lump sum, but I can only afford to pay $15.00 a month. Can they refuse that payment?

A business can indeed refuse to accept payment in installments. Of course, if services are already rendered and you can really only afford $15/month, then it would not be worthwhile for them to refuse to accept your payment schedule (unless they prefer to write off your entire debt to them), and they very likely know that. That does not say they won't give you a bad time about paying off a funeral (several $thousands?) in $15/month increments.
