Legal Question in Business Law in New York

NYS Unemployment

I have been trying to fight an unemployment case for a couple of weeks now. I have had cold hard evidence to why him/her was fired, but still the NYS labor board is giving me problems and most likely this person is going to get unemployment. I have looked at the NYS guidlines for fighting unemployment, but short of someone coming in my office with an uzi it seems everybody gets it no matter what. Is there anything I can do to protect myself from lazy, incompetent employees claiming unemployment?

Um...screen well before you hire people? Check references?

You need to speak with an attorney who practices employment law. You can get a referral either from your local county's bar association or from the NYS Bar Association (www.nysba.org).

Good luck.
