Obligation to dispute invoices at time of delivery?
Over the course of a year, I maintained a website for a deparment of a large NYC college while designing and building a new site for them. My work was continuously updated for their review. I sent them invoices every month. They paid in full a set of invoices in December for my work from April 1 to October 1st 2001.

The new site launched 2 months ago and is still being used. The client now says he will only pay $2,500 of the $6,800 outstanding invoices which represents all the work from October 1, 2001 - April 26, 2002. Around $700 are receipts for special fonts and software that he requested and assured me that he would reimburse. He received each invoice in a timely way and he and his staff continued the project with me requesting work from October to April. Does he have a case to claim dissatisfaction with the work? Would he have an obligation to disupte the invoices earlier?

Also $6,800 is above the cap for small claims court in New York. Can I break up the invoices into groups under the cap and treat each grouping as separate small claims case?

They cannot accept your work, use it and then claim dissatisfaction. I would sue in Civil Court.
