Legal Question in Business Law in New York
I have a patient who owes me over $1,000.00 in insurance copayments. She has unilaterally decided to pay me at the rate of $25.00 per month. Unilaterally meaning absent any discussion with me. I only know this is she has been paying me $25.00 per month for the last three months and she entitles her checks as payment agreement. I never agreed to this but suggested she ask her wealthy parents for help.
This means it will be 42 months before I am made whole. May I charge her interest and what is the maximum rate I may charge her?
