Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Paypal dispute
In April I sold a shower unit to a
lady in a different state and we
used paypal because we thought it
would be a more secure way for
her to send payment to me. She
came and picked up the shower
unit from my house and took it back
to her state. A few days later she
decided to file a dispute with me on
paypal and wrote an email to me
saying that she couldn't even use
the shower unit in her state
because it didn't meet building
codes. She wanted me to come pick
up the shower unit and refund her
money back - I didn't see how that
was benefiting me since she is the
one that paid to come pick it up so
she should be the one to send it
back. Also I felt how is that my fault
since she inspected it upon pick-
up? The sale should have been final
at that point when she took it.
I hadn't heard anything more about
it and today I got a call from paypal
saying that I owe them $750.. Pay
pal basically told me that since I
didn't ship it I didn't qualify for their
seller protection and since she had
filed a claim saying item not as
described they had refunded her
money back to her in August
because ''they don't get involved''
So now I am out $750 and she still
has the shower unit.

Re: Paypal dispute
No you are not out $750.00 paypal is. Make certain that you do not have any monies in your paypal account.
I had the same problem with another client. They deducted the monies from his account. The item was shipped, the monies were supposedly deposited, paypal gave the client credit, and then reversed the credit when the check bounced. They took no responsibility.
Have them collect the monies from the other side.
You can only be caught in the middle if you let yourself be caught.
