Privacy

I am divorced and I am planning to move soon, so my inquires about LLC's and all the rest is for the sake my keeping my ex-wife OUT! I bought a house and plan to move soon, so give me an outline of how to do it when she has my social security number, date of birth, etc. That's what I am asking about.

I agree with Bob that this is, in part, a question to be answered by your/a matrimonial attorney. Presuming you have already reached some settlement agreement and the purpose of the LLC is not to hide marital assets, a LLC can afford some privacy as to income and expenses. A one-person LLC does not usually file its own return (Form 1065) which is required if there are 2 or more members, but the individual owner files using Schedule "C", listing their SS#. A separate tax ID# is only required if the LLC has employees. Without knowing what agreements you may have with your "X" or obligations may be imposed on you resulting from the divorce, only a general answer is provided.
