Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Protecting a Tool

Dear Sirs, I have invented a financial tool which is used to generate Buy/Sell signals for the stock market. It's basically a formula that is used to plot a graph, and then this graph is used to generate the signals. I live in Egypt, but I would like to know if there is a way to protect or patent that formula in the U.S. (preferably NY) under my name, and if so, how much would that cost ?

Thank you !
