Legal Question in Business Law in New York
I purchased a car on Tuesday and signed a contract to pay $255.00 per mo. for 72 months. On Thursday the salesman called and said that they made a mistake that I have to come in to sign a new contract and pay $270.00 per month. Is this legal?

It is illegal if you establish a recurring pattern of defrauding consumers in to entering an invalid contract. Contact the Better Business Bureau and the State Attorney General's Office (Consumer Fraud Unit) and make your complaint known. However, I would first contact the dealer and warn them of your intended course of action as well as posting your experience with this dealer on the internet for all to see. If you do not get a proper response the dealer, proceed with the above steps. I would not deal with this dealer in either case for this may become one of your several problems for years to come.
