Legal Question in Business Law in New York
I recently signed up for the Homemade Riches - work online - not as a company affiliate but to work on my own. (I create websites and sell product online for different comanies and get paid basically for their advertisement and sale...) I need to know if there is any legal documents needed for NYS? Do I need to apply for a DBA if I work under my own name? If I chose a DBA can I still use my own name for accepting payment? I don't know if you are able to answer this question... but are there any special tax laws that apply with this as well and where can I find the forms needed? I've searched every website I can find and can't seem to get a straight answer to my questions. Thanks, R.

You may want to contact the New York State Dept of Consumer Affairs, The State Attorney General's Office, the Small Business Administration, your local Chamber of Commerce, as well as making a visit to your local IRS office to inquire specifically regarding their filing requirements. This way you should cover all your bases.
