Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Reserves against Commissions
I am a 100% Commissioned Salesman. When a customer owes the Company money that they feel is in question of collecting, they charge a Salesman a ''Reserve'' of that mnoney against commissions..Let's say a customer owes $7,000. They will continue to do business with that customer, but will charge the Salesman the $7,000 against commissions over several months until that $7,000 debt is satisfied. When the customer has paid the $7,000 back to the company, the company reimburses the salesrep for monies deducted from them. Is this legal ???
