Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Responsavilities if one pays a check for a service and then complains

Can you tell me if this has any substance in a court of law?

person A does a construction job to person B. Person B pays A after the job is completed. Can B complain that the job is not done correctly after she issued a check. It seems to me, that by issuing a check, B basicly stated that B is pleased with the job, correct? and does not have any claim.

second question

if there is a contract but it is not signed by A or B and most of it is verbal does it have any legal substance. And if so how much? Who is believed?

There is no endorsement of a check thatindeictaes pleasure with the result.

Secondly, an oral contract may be enforceable. The it is a matter of what was performed, and the credability of the parties.

Good Luck
