Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Do I have any rights? Royalties?

Basically I contacted a company about a new car product I designed/had in mind. I know I don't have the money to patent it so I offered to let them have it in exchange for royalties, even a small percent. Well they finally replied today and only said that they will sponsor me so I have no clue what they really mean.

I believe they either misunderstood and think I already created the product in which case they want to add their car products to my car or they plan to develope it and only support me by giving me my own product for my car.

I kept proof that I contacted them and sent them my idea. Do I have any rights incase they make billions from this?

Re: Do I have any rights? Royalties?

They cannot validly patent your invention, but you may have lost rights by contacting them before protecting your intellectual property. Please contact me directly to discuss your options.

I understand that you have a financial issue, but protecting your property may be less expensive than you think.

Best wishes,
