Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Service done on a property

I had a fence installed on 08/2001, the contract was signed on 06/2001 for a fee of $2500.00 a deposit of $100.00 was givin to the company, after installation of the fence a invoice was droped into my mailbox and dated for 06/28/2002. I was not recived a call from this company until today 11/24/2001 asking for payment or a lien will be taken out against the house. If there origanil invoice is dates for 06/21/2002, then payment should not be expected until then. could you please help me with some laws, if any, that could help me. I told the company I will have the payment bye there invoice date, but then tehy told me the date was a mistake and payment is wanted now.

Unless it was explicitly agreed at the time the deal was made that payment would be made one year later (highly unlikely), then you should pay up. If you have to go to court over something like this, it will be much more of an expense and bother than it is worth. Further, a judge will not be very sympathetic to your excuse.
