Legal Question in Business Law in New York

I had a small web based business which was closed back in 2007. I stated a different web based business again in 2009. I kept the original web domain name and still using it. Can I be held liable for any past dues from the previous company? Only link is the domain name but as far as I know, a domain name is not a legal entity. Thank you.

The answer is maybe and depends whether the old entity and the new entity are owned by the same peoplem engage in the same business and have the same assets. For a more definitive answer an examination of the debt and the reasons for dissolution needs to be made.
