Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Can I sue my college?
In 2005 Ive entered a new MS program in Psychology in a private college. I graduated in January 2007.I learned about this program when I was approached by the director of the program. I enrolled in this program. I have assumed that the college would hire someone trustworthy to run a graduate program.
The college fired our director, and cancelled the program. The university also found out that the director of the program was lying about his degree. After an investigation of The Office of Research Integrity, he was charged with scientific misconduct and that he was falsely misrepresented his credentials. This newsletter was published in 1995 and can be googled. Now, I feel that this program jeopardized my future. It is hard for me to interview for jobs and tell my employers that the program I was in was cancelled and, I cannot apply for further education because I will have to retake all of my MS courses. I basically feel that I was fooled. All of my classmates feel the same.
My question is this, can I sue my private college for hiring a con-artist to run a program? I just want to get my tuition back ($40,000).
