Where is the business located? You may be able to get a full individual owner name by doing a search of the business entity in the State where located. If the work was to be performed in a State where the business has not been properly registerd, you may have different types of remedies. It is possible that a simple business entity search may unearth the required information. I should add that a foreign corporation (one not incorporated in NY) may still have been authorized to conduct business in NY, so this need to be checked as well.
