Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Suing a Mortgage Company

is it possible to sue a mortgage company falsified pre-approval documents and pulled credit illegally without authorization? They have cost a Real Estate Development company over $4,000,000 in real estate loans- $15,000,000 in total profits. All documented.

Re: Suing a Mortgage Company

What do you mean by "pulled credit illegally"? Did they look up your credit record -- pull your credit report thereby causing you harm? or did they reneg on an offer of credit -- pull back a loan thereby causing you harm?

Do the mortgage and real estate companies have a contract whereby the mortgage company agrees to provide mortgages for ... whom? If so, what does the contract say about resolution of disputes arising under the contract?

This question is just too open-ended for this forum, and can't be intelligently answered without WAY more information.

That said, in general can a mortgage company be sued? Sure. It's a for-profit business (usually), just like any other, and it's not a bank, which makes it easier to sue it.
