Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Suppose that A mailed B a letter stating, I wish I could find someone to buy my car for $10,000. B knows that $10,000 is a reasonable price. Therefore, B mails a letter to A stating, I will buy your car for $10,000. Does a contract exist?

Sounds more like a law school question than a real life situation. In both law school as well as real life, my answer would be "no, there is no contract." First, A saying "I wish I could find someone..." is not an offer to B. Given that A's letter is not an offer, there was nothing for B to accept when he mails the letter to A. B's mail could be considered an "offer," I suppose, but A has not replied to accept the offer to purchase, based upon your hypothetical.
