Any creditor (the person/business to whom money is owed) can take a debtor (a person or company who owes creditor money) to court and get a money judgment against them.

If the total amount the debtor owes the creditor is less than $5000, the creditor should sue the debtor in Small Claims Court in the county where Debtor resides or where Debtor's business is located and get a judgment on unpaid invoices. Creditor does not need a lawyer to go with them to small claims.

If the amount is $5000 or more, Creditor will need to sue Debtor in Supreme Court in the county where Debtor resides or where Debtor's business is located. Creditor probably does want to hire a lawyer to help with this process.

Creditor might consider suing both the debtor business's owner(s) personally and the debtor business itself for payment.
