Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
Basically got scammed by a gentleman who created a fake company. He took $100 from me and other people for an alleged registration fee. We pick up on his unprofessionalism and lack of knowledge and research his "company" which is actually a company in the UK. Police have already told us we can take him to civil court to try to get the money back. But he needs to be off the street.
1 Answer from Attorneys
To sue him in NYC small claims court, you would need a mailing address in New York City for the individual you seek to sue. In any event, it's unlikely that he would pay any judgement and you would be wasting your time throwing good money (filing fees and your time) after bad.
I think you may wish to chalk this one up to experience and use the wisdom gained to avoid future scams.
Best of luck,
