Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
breach of promise?
I have lived with my lover for 2 years. She bought me a car in may 2001. She paid it in full. She bought it as a gift for me. I have paid the insurance to her for approximately 1 year from my checking account. We are now breaking up and I want to make sure she doesnt take the car away from me. The insurance is under both our names and the title is under her name. Do I have any rights to this car. I am the only one who drives it and friends and family know it was bought for me as well as co workers.

Re: breach of promise?
Either it was a gift or is was not.
If the title is in her name, then it was not.
She allowed you the USE of the car, but at her sufferance.
Your having paid the insurance is like your having paid for the gas and oil; you never paid for the car and she never gave it to you.
