Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
Do I have a chance?
I lent my ex-boyfriend 250 dollars cash to help him pay rent and bills. Only to find out he had been cheating on me the whole time (2 months) we were together so when I broke up with him I told him he has to pay me back. Obviously he hasn't. The only proof I have of him owing me money is the text messages on my cell phone of him saying Ill get you your money. Theres also a few threatening ones too. He also got me pregnant at the time and we decided that since he was going to jail that I shouldn't keep it. He was going to pay for half the operation, but when I broke up with him I never saw any money for that. Hes already going to jail for a year for another crime he commited. I'm a very upstanding idividual and was wondering if I had a chance in a small claims court.

You have a chance, but collecting on a judgment is another matter.
