Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
civil case court subpoena
I used to run a bar in Chicago and 1.5 years ago a fight broke out. the plantiffs first tried to get specific bouncers in criminal court but it was thrown out. Now they are in civil court suing the company that owns the bar. I was the assistant manager 1.5 years ago but now live in brooklyn. they are trying to subpoena me, but i just started a new job and cant afford to take time off for something like this. Can they make me go back to chicago for court?

Re: civil case court subpoena
If you are served with asubpoena, pay a lawyer to evaluate it. You probably cannot be hauled off to chicago, but responding through an attorney would be better than just ignoring it. If no subpoena comes, don't go if you don't want to.
