Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York

Discriminatory practices of Cablevision

I recently contacted Cablevision in regard to changing my level of service to include their advertised Triple Play. This service includes, cable TV, high-speed internet access and telephone service. All three are packaged together with a low monthly rate of $89.95. I was told that I could not participate because I am already a cable TV and internet customer, but that they could offer me discounted phone service. Can they legally eliminte this offer to existing customers in such a discriminatory fashion? Somehow, it does not seem fair that they should be allowed to exclude their existing customers from this special offer. I mean, after all, we are the backbone of their success. Had we not been loyal customers for so many years, they would not be the success that they are today.

Re: Discriminatory practices of Cablevision

Your dispute is a policy issue, not a legal question. Cablevision has the right to set the policy and they are not violating any law, however you might want to consider contacting Cablevision to cancel service to one, or another of your subscriptions, they may reconsider their policy should you act.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can e-mail me for more information about low cost face-to-face, on-line, or a telephone consultation with a lawyer in our office.
