Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York

Employee Disciplinary Letter

My daughter has received a disciplinary letter from her employer. It is totally wrong and unfair. She works in a small office. Therefore, she did not sign it. Her employer is asking for the letter, and has sent an e-mail asking when can she expect to receive it.

The question is does she have to sign it?

Re: Employee Disciplinary Letter

No she doesn't have to sign it, but she may lose her job if she doesn't.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can e-mail me for more information about low cost face-to-face, on-line, or a telephone consultation with a lawyer in our office.

Re: Employee Disciplinary Letter

You have omitted many pertinent factors such as whether she is a contract employee :..if not, she is probably an "at wiil" employee, and if she wants to keep her job, she can acknowledge receipt "under protest."
