Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York

Are FBI allow to break-in at night?

Does FBI have the right to break-in someone else's door if they came at midnight and the doorbell was being turn off by homeowner that day? They didn't show us any warrant, just show us some papers listing a person who used to live in the house and they were trying to arrest that person or so (we just moved in for a year and had no idea of that person). We called the police when the FBI showed up and somehow they were told not to come because the FBI's here...Can we sue the FBI? They did not leave us any names or their identity information, can we even file a complaint about them? Our front door's locks were damage, can we have the house insurance cover for it?

Seems like this was a weird call. You should get a lawyer to look at what happened and start asking some questions. Such as:

1. What happened to your 911 call?

2. Who authorized the warrant?

3. What agents were in your home?

4. What was the basis of their information?

There are more questions to ask but a lawyer should help you.
