Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
Katharine gibbs situation
Me and my friend are looking for some legal advise. The situation is regarding Katharine Gibbs School. Both me and my friend attended the school for a two-year Associates Degree program. We ''graduated'' in Sept. of 2003, but to date, we remain unemployed. Although, they do not GUARANTEE placement at jobs, they are supposed to arrange interviews in our fields of interest. I have been called for one interview in the past 6 months, and it was at a Christmas Ornament company, meanwhile, my field of interest is in the legal industry. And my friend was called for interviews in sales and she is looking to get into the investment field. They have never asked us the field we would like to work in, and they said they send us on what is available. One representative actually told me I was being too picky. The employment is issue is ridiculous, but that is not the only thing. After interest, we will be paying about $72,000 in loans for the school, and that is outrageous. Also, we were told the school is accredited, and I am enrolled in a City Tech

Re: Katharine gibbs situation
You should dispute your bill with Katharine gibbs. When you sign up for their course, what they don't tell you is that they will only schedule interviews for you IF THE POTENTIAL EMPLOYER AGREES TO PAY THEM. I am an employer. I once contacted Gibbs asking for names of recent grads so I could contact them for an interview. They refused to give me any info, unless I paid them several thousand dollars. The don't tell the people who took their course and are looking for jobs that this is their practice. I would sue them.
