legality of employment question
Is it legal to ask for the year graduated from high school on a job application? It seems like an attempt to get someone's age.

Re: legality of employment question
Yes, it is legal to ask for the year of graduation; and yes, it is a way to closely approximate your age -assuming that you received a normal U.S. high school education as compared to a G.E.D. earned later in life. If you are between 40 and 60 years of age, the law protects you from age related employment discrimination.

It is legal. It is necessary to check backgrounds and education. If they figure out your age and do not hire you because of it, you can sue for discrimination.
Good Luck.
