does having a marriage licence means i am married and will i have to get a divorce ?

Getting a marriage license is ennenially an application to be married. A clergyman or a person authorized to perform the marriage ceremony has to sign the licensing form and submitt it to the clerk (town clerk for those living on Long Island) for the marriage to be valid.
