Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
I am in the military stationed in Fort Monmouth NJ. My wife lives in Springville, NY. My wife paid the rent cash by dropping it in a rent box located at the property managers office. They claim they never received the rent and left my wife a three day eviction notice. She is pregnant and lives with my son. She called me crying upset saying she was going to be kicked out. She started having panic attacks and had to go to the hospital. Can a landlord do this, and what can I do about the allegedunpaid rent.

NEVER pay cash without a receipt. A money order and a receipt would be much better. you have no proof of payment, and the law is all about proof, so see if there was a witness that your wife left the cash and that the landlord asked her to do it. Good luck!
