Native Americans (or First Americans) are citizens of the United States if born within its borders. Native American tribes have limited sovereignty within the boundaries of their tribal lands. Any citizen of the U.S. can renounce their U.S. citizenship by leaving the U.S. and obtaining citizenship in another country.
