Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
NY: neighbor harassment
About 6 months ago, one of the neighbors in my building taped a note to my door. She claimed that there was cat urine in the hallway as a result of my cats. I had no idea who she was, and posted a note on my own door in response. The next evening I came home and there was a egg thrown at my door. I was understandably upset and embarrassed that all my other neighbors had seen this issue publically. Since I had no idea who this person's identity was, I could not file a police report. I did take a picture of the damage to my door. This morning, I woke up and left my apartment only to see a note left in exactly the same handwriting posted on ANOTHER neighbors door. The note was interesting in that it was SIGNED! I now clearly know the identity of the person harassing me. I would like to know what kind of legal action I caqn take at this point. Thank you!

Re: NY: neighbor harassment
Send a letter to your landlord after you file a police report. This should scare your neighbor straight. If this doesn't work, send a another letter to the landlord demanding that he take action; otherwise, he/she may become a defendant in a civil suit.
