Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
My parents put my name on the deed to their house a long time ago. They currently have a life lease. My mother just passed away, and we don't know how long my dad will be around. My parents had wanted me to sell the house and divide it amongst us kids. About five years ago, my parents allowed my brother and his wife to move in temporarily while they got on their feet. They currently are taking over the house as if it their own. Will they own part of the house once my father passes because they have lived their so long? What is the law on that? Do I need them to sign a lease or should I evict them now?
