Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York

Should I pay for a car scratch that costs a little too much?

While getting out my drive way I accidently rubbed my front side bender against another car. The only damage was a dent that was fixed free of charge and 3 small 1cm scratches on the edges of the front and back door of the car. The owner of the car wants me to pay 500 dollars to redo the entire door for the 3 scratches. My question is do I have to pay for that? I don't think it is neccesary to redo the entire door for the scratches. Is there anyway that I can pay for the damage done and not the whole door? Thank You.

Your actual responsibility is for the damage to the door itself, and not the fullest or most complete repair, but instead a cost effective adequate repair. 2127098303

Let him sue you. He will have to prove that it was necessary to repair the entire door to

fix the damage from the accident,an

unlikely event. He will have to show an estimate and a repair bill, or two similar forms of proof.
