Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
police harassment
the police have been to my house over 15 times in the past 2 years. my neighbors complain my children are too loud playing volleyball. no report is ever taken and the police end up apologizing. my neighbor is a cop and his wife hates me and continues to harass my family. the internal affairs department actually investigated the situation knowing that a police officer's wife along with her friend were doing the calling. i have lived here for 47 years and this started once the cop moved in about 5 years ago. I was told that the cop's wife would stop but now her friend has picked up the slack.

Re: police harassment
This sounds like a misuse of authority under color of law or a deprivation of civil rights under color of law with the intent to intimidate. A civil rights lawyer could write a nice letter telling the officer and those under his control or influence to cease and desist otherwise a lawsuit will follow. In lieu of all of the above, perhaps a follow-up with his commanding officer can put an end to his inappropriate behavior. Good luck.
