police violates rights

my son was in a fight, he got stab when the police question him he lied. the police found out he lied he caught a charge. the police knows who stabed him they never picked up the guy i belive on purpose because of the lie-the police spoke to the principal in the school a week after the incident the principal told the police that the younger siblings of the guy that my son fought goes to the school-so they know who did it-everybody knows who did it. the day my son got arrested for the lie. the lead detective told my son he knows who cut his face and asked him if he wanted him to pick him up-my son said yes and was given a summons which he was conviceted and had to do community service (sealed) i think my son rights were violated this happened back in may 07 nassau county, should we pursue this ?
