Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
Problem neighbors
my father has set a camera in front of our house to see who has been throwing their garbage into our trash can since he has recently gotten a ticket for not separating the recycles.
Our neighbor who operates a house car dealership found it offensive(eventhough the camera only shows our front lawn). Followed us to the house we currently live at and broke our door down, then threw a cup of hot coffee at my parents. Then the father proceeded to follow my parents around with a camcorder the whole day today. While the sons broke into my brother's car, stole the garage remote and spilled coffee onto his car.
Please let me know if I have any ground to sue them or get at least get them arrested for assault.

Re: Problem neighbors
Yes, you have claims against the neighbor -- whose actions are truly outrageous. If you would like a referral for an attorney in New York, I know of someone (not me) who could likely help you.

Re: Problem neighbors
First, call your county District Attorney's office and ask for an appointemnt to make a complaint, these allegations may be criminal in nature and prosecutable.
From a civil standpoint you have a case and it may be worth pursuing but there are a number of other factors that come into play. I would be happy to talk to you about your situation if you like. Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699
Re: Problem neighbors
You certainly have the right to press charges for the assault/theft with your local prosecutor, and a civil suit for any damages to your property, plus the emotional distress of the entire trauma.
