recording conversations at work

If one's employer is harassing them at work, is it legal for the employee to record the statements of the employer without informing the employer that he or she is being recorded?

Re: recording conversations at work

Generally people have a reasonable expectation of privacy, unless they are speaking in public.

If you record something in an improper fashion, wait to see if you need to use it, before announcing the fact that it is recorded.

For a one on one conversation you should inform the other person it is being recorded, ask for their consent, or at the very least have the recorder in plain sight.
