Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York

sexual harassment at work

A coworker has been harassing me at work and actually grabbed my breast at work in front of other coworkers.

I reported this to the manager and was advised not to put my complaint in writing, but he will look into it.

Last Friday, manager gave me a letter that adressed the harassment & noted coworkers backed me on what happened, & that a letter is being put in haressers file. Letter then goes on to say I am difficult to work with (I have been there 16 years!) and that is has been noted that I wear a g-sting under my uniform & that I try to show the men my breast enlargement surgery & my tatooes! This is all a lie,as well as I have never had surgery,I don't own a g-string & my one little tatoo of a rose is on my shoulder.

Employer wants me to see this letter and acknowledge that I was to blame for harassment. I am a 51 year old grandmother of 2 & have never ever done what this letter says.

What is the best way to respond-I need my job & I am so angry and hurt over this.

Keep that letter well protected and consult with an employment law attorney. You may have a case.

Re: sexual harassment at work

This is unheard of! I suggest that you keep this letter first of all, and do not sign any copy. You might have a case, a law suit, especially if they fire you or you have to quit.

If the matter is not resolved, you should contact a dicrimination attorney to protect your rights.

Feel free to contact our firm if you have any questions.

Re: sexual harassment at work

You absolutely should retain the letter you received and I would be happy to meet with you and discuss the potential claim that you have against your employer and co-employees.
