Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York

I am a member in good standing with the auxiliary police dept in nyc,being a member for 14 years as a volunteer,receiving many commendations & awards ,which I have and a letter that I recieved in december regarding an asset that I have been ,which I have as well.I also am a n ordained clergy.I asked the community affair officer ,that I would like to become clergy liason ,which he told me they have all the liason at this time ,however recommended that I call one of the clergy liason ,which I did ,the conversation ,got ugly ,in which the clergy liason felt threatened that I would take his place ,by just asking him & him responding that he takes it as a personall insult.He threatend me that I will no longer be an aux police officer.The next day I get a phone call ,& go through this humiliating process in front of my other aux police members ,to surrender my shield & I D .I would like to sue the police dept ,nyc for this slander & defamation of character ,which the humiliation process did ,not including future embaressment.thank you.

It sounds to me like you may have a civil rights and a slander suit to bring if everything you said is true.
