Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
Vehicle repossession
I have been threatened by a repo company that they will obtain a court order to have my vehicle removed from my locked garage. Is this a civil matter? How long does it take for the order to be issued?

Re: Vehicle repossession
Yes, its a civil matter. They will be filing a Petition for Writ of Repelvin. You will be served with a Summon and a copy of the petition for you to appear in court. If the petition is granted then an order will be forwarded to local sheriff for them to remove the vehicle from your possession.
